Michael has designed costumes for film, theater, and television. The physical appearance of an actor is the first thing an audience sees, speaking volumes about that character before any dialogue is spoken. Working in collaboration with the director and actor to find the right balance is one of the most exciting aspects of Michael’s work. He finds nothing more rewarding than watching the transformation that occurs from the fitting process to the creation or selection of the clothing that helps the talent find their character’s voice.
He has worked with a diverse group of actors including: John Goodman, Danny Glover, Gina Gershon, James Gandolfini, Bill Murray, Steve Guttenberg, Wanda Sykes, Cynthia Nixon, Amy Sedaris, Colin Quinn, Sigourney Weaver, and numerous others in his career.
Television credits include two seasons of the Amazon Original Series Alpha House written by Garry Trudeau, two seasons of the LStudio Series Cop Show written by and starring Colin Quinn, and the Chiller Network Original Feature Brian Keene’s The Ghoul.
Film credits include Down The Shore with James Gandolfini and Famke Jannsen, The Killing Of John Lennon BAFTA nominee and winner of the Tribeca Film Festival Best Made In New York prize, In The Family Independent Film Award Nominee and winner San Diego Asian Film Festival Best Narrative Feature, Lucky McKee’s Sundance Film Festival’s controversial horror film The Woman, and the Turkish Five Minarets In New York with Danny Glover, Robert Patrick, and Gina Gershon.
Some theater credits include The Screwtape Letters at the Westside Theatre, Pearl Theatre and National Tour, White’s Lies at New World Stages, and Good Ol’ Girls at the Black Box Theatre.
To each of these projects Michael brings his distinctive voice, collaborative skills, and his strong sense of creation and construction of unique pieces to help define the appropriate mood.
